His Eminence Garchen Rinpoche’s Losar Message for Dri Thubten Dargye Ling
video broadcast at centre on 14 Feb 2010:

"I extend a warm Tashi Delek for Losar to you, my dharma friends. I wish you perfect happiness in the New
Year. Today is the Tibetan New Year so therefore I am greeting you, my dharma friends with a warm Losar
Tashi Delek.

In this New Year, it is our prayers to bring about the peace and happiness of the beings in this world.
Whatever action we engage in the dharma or in this world, they are for the sake of peace and happiness of
all beings living in this world. I also make prayers that the Buddha’s teaching will flourish and increase in this
world and all sentient beings may be happy. Secondly, the actual Buddha is your awareness and the dharma
is love. In terms of our centre, you must have love for each other, love for the centre and if you give rise to
love, this love will pervade the minds of all sentient beings.

People in this world experience great suffering, that is because their love is very small. If we cultivate no love,
suffering will only increases, so thinking about the external universe and for all the sentient beings who
suffer, we must give rise to love. With only a few people cultivate such a mind of love, all the many people in
this world will be benefited from that and it will bring about their happiness, that is the aspiration prayers of all
the Buddhas, this is what we need to cultivate, this is the very heart of the Buddha’s teaching.

The source to sustain the Buddha’s teaching is this centre; this centre sustains the Buddha’s teaching. You
must also show great respect for your resident lama, Dhondup Lama; you must cultivate great love for each
other, disciples, dharma companions and must practice just according to the 37 Bodhisattva Practices. If you
do that, it will bring about your own benefit and the happiness of others, it will bring about the temporary
benefit of rebirth in the 3 higher realms and the ultimate benefit of attaining enlightenment. The only cause
for attaining enlightenment is this mind of love. At this centre if only four people come together in this centre
then this is called ‘a source of the Buddha’s teaching’. You should think that this centre is the Buddha’s
teaching and here we should work together in great harmony, also towards all other centers and religion. If
you cultivate love for each other, in the future, we will achieve happiness and the Buddha’s teaching will
increase.

With these prayers for the New Year, for the Buddha’s teaching to flourish and increase, and to bring about
the happiness of all sentient beings, I extend my warm Losar Tashi Delek.”
